Hello World! About time for an update ey?
In just a few days I'll be hitting the road with my friend Colin Gilmore. We're doing several shows in the midwest. Check the tour schedule to see if we're playing near you!
Also, I'm super excited to tell you about my new project, Gussied. Let's just say, seven indie folk musicians starting a wedding cover band has been quite an endeavor! We saw a need for wedding music that granny and the cool kids will dance to... and the idea has been born! We play our first show June 27th in Chicago. Visit our website for details! Gussied
Yey! Music! Music! Music!

Hello from the stage in Tubingen Germany!
Exploring Strasbourg

Hello France!
One month ago I was comfortably situated between moving boxes and my cats... (They seem to like the warmth of my laptop) I was about to leave my beloved city of Chicago for Evanston, IL to live below my band mates. Now when I'm awake at 2 am with a song idea I can wake up the Bennett brothers instead of my neighbors!
So... Funny story...
One month and two days ago a friend sent me a text wondering where I was moving, and I told her my husband and I were leaving for France. I was just messing with her, but I had her going for quite a bit. I actually had her convinced my husband was going back to school for botany, which I found amusing... Apparently some French vibes were in the air, because two days later I was presented with the opportunity to go on tour in France! So crazy!
So right now I am joining Chicago artists MUSIKANTO and AMI SARAIYA for the Trans-Atlantic Nights Festival in France and Germany. May 25- June 1st.

"She has a varying music style all the way from rock to country and folk, and a voice to be jealous of. "
- GAPERS BLOCK"She's got pipes that rival Neko Case and Kelley Hogan."
- TIME OUT CHICAGO"Anyone who is a fan of Neko Case and Kelly Hogan will want to check out Julia Klee."
-CHICAGO SUN TIMES"EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE we see a live show that's so
transcendental in it's scope, that takes the live venue and
transforms it into a singular experience, where the voices
of the crowd drops away and the artist becomes a singular
focus…
DRUNKEN CHESS we compared Klee to Parton, Wells, Lynn and
Emmylou Harris. This is where she becomes their equal. A
ballad any one of them would be proud to call their own, but
they can't because Klee owns this song. Klee's voice wavers,
sinks, slow and languid, becoming stronger, taking command
of the line, allowing space, pleading the light and crawling
the dark. A delicately plucked banjo here, a lap steel
whisper there. Delicate and strong, without cliche' it's a
classic. Every line a perfect moment we've all been in, but
never found the right words to express it. Julia Klee does
it for us. We'll drink to this song any night of the week.
Best song we've heard all year."
"By this time I thought I'd just be globbing on to a Julia Klee frenzy. But no. Seems like everyone else is still missing out on this great record. A great record if you like songs about lost love, being used, left, hurt or heartbroken. Or, if you're a fan of singers like Dolly Parton, Kelly Hogan, Emmylou Harris, Neko Case… and yes, the album stands up to those comparisons."
- NO, YOUR PRODUCT
Julia Klee has been compared to the likes of Emmylou Harris, Kelly Hogan and Bille Holiday...with a songwriting stylethat is playful, and a voice that is sometimes haunting.

-Time Out Chicago-Most recently making waves in the Chicago music scene with her record "Big Charade", Klee's prior performances with acclaimed songwriter Joe Pug at Lollapalooza, and on the album "Messenger", brought Julia to a wider audience in 2009.
Invited to sing on the record, "The Best of Times," with Austin native Colin Gilmore, amongst country greats Willie Nelson, Rhett Miller, Shawn Colvin and The Flatlanders, put Julia on the map and into the studio to make her own record.
Big Charade", is a brilliantly crafted collection of piano driven songs with a cast of alt-country musicians that have a tour history ranging from The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, Head of Femur, Merle Haggard and ZZ Top.
Her song, "Overpass", a haunting duet recorded with Jim Becker (Iron & Wine and Califone) was a bizarre twist of fate. It was a live performance by Iron and Wine that inspired Klee to drop out of music school years earlier to pursue her own project.

-Gapers Block-…"Showstopping vocals and songs that were at once unique and accessible, in the vein of Neko Case. Keep your eyes open for her”…
